Cautious welcome to free passport
British passport
Those eligible may apply at the end of the year
The chairman of Jersey's veterans association has given a cautious welcome to the decision to allow people over 75 to renew their passports free.

Lionel Norman says it is good news for those who want to continue visiting the Normandy battlefields in the future.

The move is being made in recognition of the contributions made by that generation to the war effort.

But Mr Norman says Jersey veterans have not previously experienced any difficulties with the passports.

Jersey's Immigration and Nationality Department says it is expecting to introduce the change next year
