The man is charged with having and throwing a petrol bomb
A County Tyrone factory worker accused of throwing a petrol bomb has been remanded in custody.

Gary Ashley Smyth, 21, of Lisnaclin Court, Dungannon, is charged with having a petrol bomb in suspicious circumstances.

He is also charged with throwing a petrol bomb with intent to damage the property of Dungannon District Council or cause personal injury to local people and non-nationals.

The charges relate to an alleged incident in Dungannon town centre on Sunday when a device was thrown at a group of Portuguese people.

No one was injured in the attack at Market Square and the device burnt itself out.

A detective constable told Fermanagh Magistrates Court on Monday, that when Mr Smyth was charged, he replied: "No."

The officer said she believed she could connect him to the offences.

Mr Smyth was remanded in custody to appear at Dungannon Court on 25 August.
