Trains running on the railway line between Leeds and York were halted after a car crashed into a bridge.
The line was closed between Micklefield and Church Fenton at 0830 GMT on Thursday.
The un-named male driver of the car was taken to York District Hospital for treatment to facial injuries
The line was re-opened shortly after 1000GMT after safety checks had been carried out on the bridge at Johns Lane near Sherburn-in-Elmet.
