An inquest has cleared a Shrewsbury prison of fault following the death of a prisoner who was found hanged.
Andrew Minor, from Stoke-on-Trent, was found in his cell at The Dana in November.
The hearing was told by his girlfriend that he had attempted self-harm and suicide several times although he gave no indication to prison staff that he was concerned about anything.
A jury returned a verdict of suicide on Wednesday following a two-day inquest.
A short time before his death the 36-year-old former warehouse supervisor who was on remand, had been seen smiling and chatting with prison officers.
Staff there, including governor Michael Bolton, said there had been no indication Mr Minor was a suicide risk.
Other witnesses told the hearing there was nothing to suggest the prison had failed to comply with authorised procedures.
