Chaplains help Olympic athletes
Athletes generic
The chaplains can offer pastoral support to athletes
Two chaplains who looked after Channel Islanders at the Island games in Guernsey last year, have gone to the Olympics in Athens.

Mary and Peter Vickers, from Dorset, are working in the Olympic Village, supporting athletes who need help coping with the pressure of competing.

Ms Vickers says the facilities provided by the Greek authorities are superb.

There is a religious service centre for athletes which is multi-faith and multi-denominational.

"It's a place where people can drop in and drop out. It's also a place where worship is offered.

"Each faith has its own space and there's also the facility for us to go and visit athletes if they request that."
