City's gasworks tower destroyed
Gas holder demolished
The gas holder was 275ft tall
One of Edinburgh's tallest industrial structures has been demolished by a controlled explosion.

The 275ft gas holder was torn down to make way for the redevelopment of the former Granton gasworks in Edinburgh.

The structure could be seen 20 miles away and was the last of two original tall gas holders which once dominated the landscape of north Edinburgh.

The 110-acre former gasworks is a key focus of the city's waterfront urban regeneration project.
