Baby memorial garden work starts
Work to recreate a North Lincolnshire baby memorial garden is under way.

The Woodlands Crematorium in Scunthorpe is being redeveloped to give families their own personal areas for mementos.

The existing baby garden is reportedly overrun with personal effects and the council wants to create a more "tidy and peaceful" environment.

Families have been asked to remove all personal mementos while the work is carried out, though councillors insist this is a temporary measure.

Chimes ban

North Lincolnshire Council says the Scunthorpe Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (Sands) supports the changes.

Under the changes, individual graves will be fenced off to create individual garden areas around them.

However, wind chimes have now been banned and personal mementoes have been restricted to 15cm in height.

A council spokeswoman said the changes would make it easier for staff to maintain the grounds of the crematorium.
