Hillwalkers rescued from mountain

The walkers alerted emergency services by mobile phone
Three Tyneside climbers who got lost in a white out on Ben Nevis have been led to safety by a mountain rescue team.

Police at Fort William police station, were alerted by a call made from a mobile phone at 1830 GMT on Wednesday.

The call was from three hillwalkers, Kristian Kristiansen, 31, from East Hebburn, and Rory Rickford and Daniel Rowan, both 20, from Newcastle.

Six members of Lochaber Mountain Rescue team were called out and found the walkers and led them to safety.

The group was on the Tourist Path on Ben Nevis when then they got lost in the white out conditions.

They were not injured in the incident.
