Security guards attacked by gang
A gang of three masked men attacked security guards in an armed robbery at a petrol station in Lancashire.

The guards were delivering money to a cash machine at a petrol station on Blackburn Road in Rising Bridge, Rossendale, at 2100 GMT on Wednesday.

One was hit around the neck and head before he handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbers got away in a silver Saab, which was already parked near to the scene.

The gang are thought to have got to the petrol station in a silver Peugeot 306, stolen from Alderley Edge in Cheshire last week.

The guard who was hit over the head was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the robbery to contact them.
