Bomb thrown in racist attack
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them
Police have described a petrol bomb attack in County Tyrone as being racially motivated.

A device was thrown towards a group of Portuguese people in Dungannon town centre at 0245 BST on Sunday.

No one was injured in the attack at Market Square and the device burnt itself out.

One man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

SDLP assembly member Tommy Gallagher condemned the incident.

"Such a racist attack is on a par with the sectarian violence we have suffered from for far too long, and is to be equally condemned by all right-thinking people," he said.

Assault

"The people of Dungannon and Tyrone want no hand, act or part in any sort of abuse of those who come to our country as guests and workers. Everyone wants to see an end to these attacks."

Meanwhile, a man from eastern Europe is being treated for fractures to his ribs and upper body after being attacked in Armagh.

A racial motive is being investigated for the attack which happened in the Alexander area of the city at about midnight on Saturday.

The 34-year-old man was assaulted by up to seven people in the front garden of his home.

Two of his attackers are believed to have been women.

Detectives in Armagh have appealed for anyone with any information about the attack to contact them.
