Robber assaults pregnant woman
A pregnant woman had her head repeatedly smashed against a tree in a robbery in Crewe.

The woman was walking to work along Macon Way at 0520 GMT on Wednesday when a man grabbed her hair and dragged her down a gravel path.

A spokesman for Crewe CID said the man then smashed her head against a tree four or five times before running off with her handbag.

He said the woman was left bruised and badly shaken.

"It was a terrifying ordeal for her," he said.

"The area is popular with people walking their dogs and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything."

Her attacker is described as white, aged in his early 20s and about 5ft 10in tall.

He was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark sports jacket and dark blue track suit trousers with two white stripes down the sides.
