'Forgotten Army' parades in city
Queen Square
The parade assembled in Queen Square
Members of the Western Area of the Burma Star Association attended a service in Bristol on Sunday commemorating the end of World War II.

About 200 of the 500 veterans marched to St Mary Redcliffe Church from Queen Square, led by an air cadet band.

Nearly 50 branches of the association and of the Royal British Legion were represented by standard bearers.

It was their final parade and service to remember the Burma campaign led in the Far East by the "Forgotten Army".

Ray King, chairman of the Western Area of the Burma Star Association, said that as many of the veterans were now in their eighties this was to be the last VJ parade.
