Cultural diversity was the central theme of the annual Mela that took place in Oldham on Sunday.
A host of free outdoor events, to celebrate the heritage of the subcontinent, took place in the Greater Manchester town.
National and international Asian performance artists performed on one of two stages that were set up in the town's shopping area.
The other stage hosted performances by groups across Oldham borough.
Football tournament
A network of stalls were on hand to provide browsers with, among other things, information from public, private and voluntary organisations that operate in the borough.
Events to celebrate the festival will also include the Oldham Mela Football Tournament, which is taking place on 22 August.
Up to 18 seven-a-side teams, featuring players of all ages, will be pitched against each other in the tournament, competing for a number of trophies.
