Kim Wilde will help judge the winning entry
Manchester has been chosen to take part in the 'It's Your Space' campaign.

Backed by architects and environmentalists, it aims to get local people involved in the improvement of open spaces in their community.

People are being urged to vote for neglected spaces that they would like to transform into welcoming and well-used areas.

The gardener and former pop star Kim Wilde will help judge the winning entry and give a master class to the winner.

Kick start projects

The It's Your Space campaign is organised by CABE (The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment).

The winning entry will be given help to develop their ideas further and put them in touch with organisations that can help kick start their projects.

To launch the campaign, CABE - which is government-backed and champions excellence in design - has named eight "Inspiring Spaces".

They include the Urban Oasis in Apple Tree Court, Salford.

Residents can find out more about the campaign and vote at its website - www.itsyourspace.org.uk.
