Quartet earn Athens selection
Emma Brown on her way to gold at the 2000 Paralympics
Emma Brown is looking for another record breaking display
Four Welsh athletes have been selected for Great Britain's squad for next September's Paralympic Games in Athens.

In the powerlifting, Tonteg's Emma Brown will defend her powerlifting title in the under 82.5kg bodyweight division.

And in the 48kg division, Julie Salmon of Ynysybwl will make her Games debut.

Neil Robinson from Deeside and Bridgend's Neil Robinson will be competing in the table tennis, in a team managed by Newport's Steve Ward.

"The competition is going to be tough and I think the winner will have to set a world record," said Brown, who set a world record of 135kg at the Sydney games.

"Training is going well and I'm hoping to retain my title with a world record. A world record would be the icing on the cake for me."

Graham Davies of the Sports Council for Wales said: "Their selection is a tremendous achievement and is testament to the dedication and hard training by the athletes and their coaches.

"Wales performed outstandingly well in Sydney and it looks as though, once again, there will be a strong Welsh representation in the British team in Athens.

"For sailing, table tennis and powerlifting, almost 30% of the Team GB will be Welsh."
