City shakes to festival rhythms
rock concert
Shopping crowds on Briggate will be entertained through the day
Visitors to Leeds are being treated to music from four different continents over the weekend.

A host of musicians from as far afield as Australia and New Zealand are taking part in this year's Rhythms of the City festival.

Away from the festival stage on Briggate, the crowds will be entertained by dancers and acrobats.

Councillor John Procter said it was the perfect chance for anyone wanting to see Europe's best performance artists.

The highlight of the event is expected to be Nadya and her 101 Candles Orkestra.

The Australian band, which plays a mix of jazz, Latin and Balkan gypsy music, arrives in Leeds fresh from the Edinburgh Festival.

Mr Procter added: "This is another great example of the diverse and original acts Rhythms of the City brings to Leeds."
