The remains of a body thought to be that of a monk, found in Suffolk

The remains of what is thought to be a medieval monk are uncovered during a dig at Leiston Abbey. The discovery was made as a local youth group was excavating the site in a dig organised by Suffolk County Council's archaelogists.

Police in Essex urged an anonymous caller they believe has information about a 29-year-old murder to ring back. Ivy Davies, above, was 49 years old when she was found dead at her home in Holland Road, Westcliff, in 1975.

The A10 bypass, undergoing repairs before opening

The opening of the A10 bypass from Wadesmill, north of Ware, to Collier's End in Herts, has been delayed again. Cracks and faults in the surface meant 35% of the carriageway had to be replaced.
