Second man charged over pub death

Fred Fowler died in the Tap and Barrel pub in Hendon
A second man has been charged over the death of a 72-year-old Wearside man in a pub shooting.

Fred Fowler died at the Tap and Barrel pub in Hendon on 18 July. Michael Nixon, 19, was also injured.

Northumbria Police said a 46-year-old man from the Billingham area of Teesside, was due to appear before magistrates in Sunderland on Saturday.

A 36-year-old Sunderland man has already been remanded in custody, charged with Mr Fowler's murder.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said the 46-year-old had been charged with murder and attempted murder.

The 36-year-old man from Sunderland was remanded in custody earlier this month, also charged with murder and possessing a handgun with intent to endanger life at a separate incident in March this year.
