Terror arrest concerns 'allayed'
Blackburn arrest scene
One suspect arrested in Blackburn is still being held
Concerns over anti-terror arrests in Blackburn have led Lancashire's chief constable to meet Muslim leaders.

Paul Stephenson made the move after two men from the town were detained in raids across England, during which 13 arrests were made.

One of the men from Blackburn is still being questioned at London's Paddington Green police station.

Ibrahim Master, chair of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, said the meeting has allayed some fears.

Mr Stephenson was joined by other senior police officers in the meeting with Mr Master and Lord Adam Patel.

BBC Radio Lancashire reported on Saturday that police would maintain "open dialogue" with communities to provide reassurance about how operations like the arrests, by London's anti-terrorist squad, are carried out.

Mr Master said he was concerned about the impact the arrests would have on the image of the wider Muslim community in Lancashire.

He added Mr Stephenson had been able to give him a broader perspective on these types of operations.
