Landlord attacked with 'CS gas'
A landlord was sprayed with what police say could have been CS gas, during a raid on a Teesside pub.

The incident happened when the landlord tackled a burglar at the King's Arms pub in Billingham, Teesside.

Police say the raider made off in a red car with a small amount of cash.

The landlord was able to stagger outside, where a woman passer-by offered help and called the police.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "The landlord confronted a man in the pub at about 0900 GMT on Monday.

"He was sprayed in the face with a substance, which is believed to be CS gas.

"He managed to get outside, where a woman passer-by gave assistance and called in the police.

"The landlord received treatment after the incident."

The raider is described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, wearing a balaclava, dark bomber jacket and dark jeans.

Police say he made off in a red car, possibly a Vauxhall Cavalier or a Ford Escort.
