The Beatles: Classic, rare and unseen pictures

4 of 8 Four images by Australian photographer Bob Whitaker have not been seen before. One of these shows John Lennon at home with his first wife Cynthia and son Julian holding a mop and hoe.

5 of 8 Whitaker spent four years shooting the band, saying: "As I spent more time with them, I realised I was recording history."

6 of 8 In the early days manager Brian Epstein had taken the boys out of their leathers and re-dressed them in smart modern suits, so influencing a whole raft of wanabee pop stars.

7 of 8 This eclectic, well-chosen and extraordinary collection of pictures adds a whole other chapter to their story.
