Owners will also have to take out special insurance

New legislation on keeping dangerous animals has come into force in Northern Ireland.
It means people who have pets such as leopards, snakes or lizards will have to prove that they are being kept safely.
They will also have to take out special insurance.
The legislation has been in force in the rest of the United Kingdom since 1976.
Stephen Philpott of the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) said it had been campaigning to have it made law in Northern Ireland.
"For the last 30 years, dangerous animals have been kept in increasing numbers by people in Northern Ireland as companion pets," he said.
