Revellers who cause trouble in Kettering town centre are being warned their antics could be captured on film.
Officers will be using a camcorder as part of Operation Leisure.
They will record rowdy behaviour to make potential troublemakers think twice about committing a crime or causing anti-social behaviour.
PC Tony White, town centre community beat officer, believes the video equipment will also reassure those who want to enjoy a safe night out.
Anti-social behaviour
"The camcorder will provide officers with an extra resource, which can be used to tackle all aspects of anti-social behaviour from drunk and disorderly conduct to motorcycle nuisance, which blights communities and affect the quality of life of others," he said.
Footage will be used to help identify those responsible or as evidence if any further action is considered necessary.
The camcorder will be used mainly as part of the summer campaign to cut alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour in the area, but it will also be available to help with other operations.
