Stuart Maconie

Stuart Maconie is a journalist, writer and radio and television presenter. He hosts a myriad documentaries for Radio 2, including the successful recent series 7 Days That Rocked That The World and his celebration of northern soul, All Singing, All Dancing, All Night.

Stuart writes and appears in the Top 100 series of programmes for Channel 4, including Top 100 Adverts, Top 100 TV Crimes and the huge hit Top 100 Number One Songs. He will write three more programmes for the series this year.

He is also a stalwart of BBC 2's I LOVE THE 1970s and 1980s, and can frequently be seen appearing on BBC 2 and Channel 4 at the same time, in both I LOVE THE 1980'S and Channel 4's 'Top Ten' series. As a writer or narrator he has featured in Channel 4's Top Ten Christmas, Progressive Rock, Eurovision, Guitar Heroes and Electro programmes. He is writing Bully For Men, a new comedy drama for Watchmaker with Andrew Collins, with whom he co- hosted Collins And Maconie's Movie Club until 1998.

His two books, 3982 Days, the official biography of Blur and Folklore, the official James biography are both now available, published by Virgin. His hobbies include fell walking, drinking and reading slim volumes of difficult modern verse.
