Vessel takes Concorde on journey
A special vessel, designed by a Staffordshire company, will take a British Airways' Concorde on its final voyage.

The multi-purpose pontoon - designed by Robert Wynn and Son from Eccleshall - is being launched on the Thames at Westminster, on Wednesday.

It will then begin a week-long trip taking one of 16 remaining Concordes to a display hangar in Scotland.

The pontoon can move large loads of up to 1,200 tonnes by canal, river or sea.

The firm's managing director Peter Wynn said it was a revolutionary vessel which should mean fewer slow-moving wide loads will cause hold-ups on the roads.

The government is funding 99% of the project with a grant of £8.5m.
