New centre for home abuse victims
A new centre for the victims of domestic abuse is to be opened for men and women.

The Northampton Sunflower Centre in Corby, Northamptonshire, will provide emotional support and advice as well as access to police officers.

It will allow victims to make informed decisions about the options and help available to them and their families.

The centre opens in Elizabeth Street on Monday and will provide anonymity for those who use its services.

Centre manager Claire Ladlow said it was an important opportunity for those who are suffering abuse.

"Too many lives have already been needlessly ended through domestic abuse and the new Sunflower Centre provides real hope for people," she said.

Pc Wendy Barron, domestic incidents investigator, added: "Domestic abuse is under reported, not only in this county but nationwide.

"Often a victim of domestic abuse is unaware of the many organisations that can help and they often think that a criminal investigation is their only option.

"The Sunflower Centre in Corby will help victims make informed decisions as to the best course of action for their situation."
