Woods body is buried unidentified
Reconstructed face
A reconstruction of the man's face failed to identify him
A funeral has been held for a mystery man who was found dead in Lings Wood, Northampton, in September 2002.

A post mortem failed to find the exact cause of his death, but it is not thought to have been suspicious.

Extensive police inquiries, including a facial reconstruction, failed to identify the man.

He was buried at Northampton's Kingsthorpe Road cemetery after a short service, and an inquest into his death will resume on 7 April.

A child taking part in a woodland clean-up found the body.

A blue rucksack and a sleeping bag were found nearby.

He is thought to be a white European, aged between 30 and 50 years old, and 5ft 8in to 6ft tall, with straight black hair.

A police spokesman said it was very sad for any family or friends the man must have had somewhere.
