Man arrested after house 'siege'
A 41-year-old man has been arrested after a siege at a house in Daventry.

Trained police negotiators spent two-and-a-half hours trying to persuade the man to leave a house after being called to the scene at 1120 GMT on Tuesday.

Eventually officers entered the house and arrested the man under the Mental Health Act after he refused to leave.

Northamptonshire Police were called to the incident at The Wye on the Grange Estate in the town following concern for the man's welfare.

More than 25 officers were involved in the operation.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to a local hospital.
