Woman dies after road accident
A woman pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car on Teesside.

The incident happened as she was crossing the road near Blackford Nurseries, on Stockton Road, Hartlepool, at 1400 GMT on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to University Hospital of Hartlepool where she was pronounced dead.

The A689 road was closed westbound from the Owton Lodge pub, and diversions were in place while Cleveland Police investigated the incident.
