Tour de France racing bike stolen
Tour de France
The bike was to have been ridden in the Tour de France
A unique hand-made racing bike built to be ridden in the Tour de France has been stolen from a garage.

The thieves broke into the building on Springfield Road, Poole, within the last fortnight when the owner was away.

Dorset Police are appealing for anyone who has been offered the bike, or bought it, to get in touch.

The white, green and yellow bike was made by cycle builder Graham Weigh for a local cyclist who intended to race it in the world famous event in the 1980s.

Pc David Kewley said: "The cycle is unique. It was hand-built for a friend of the owner's father.

"The cycle has Graham Weigh logos on the frame which is multi-coloured with tubing and yellow grips on the drop racing handlebars.

"It's quite likely that the cycle is now in the hands of an innocent purchaser and I'd like to reassure that person that if that is the case you will not be held responsible for the burglary, so please ring the police."

A steam cleaner and a tent were also stolen during the break-in.
