June release for Spider-Man film
Spider-Man 2 will swing into US cinemas on 30 June, Sony Studios have said.

It will be released two days earlier than planned to take advantage of the 4 July holiday weekend, one of US cinema's busiest times of the year.

The first Spider-Man film took more than $808m (£498m) globally and became the biggest US box office hit of 2002.

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst reprise their lead roles for both the sequel and Spider-Man 3, which is due to be released on 4 May 2007.


Limp Bizkit in tour bomb threat

Rock band Limp Bizkit had to cancel a show in Poland after "a serious bomb threat", it is reported.

News of the cancellation of the Katowice show was revealed on the band's website by frontman Fred Durst.

He said five minutes before show time local police "told us someone called the police and said to evacuate the building in one hour".

"At that point I made the decision to evacuate the building and announce the problem to the audience," Durst said.


Mission for Green Mile director

The director of the Tom Hanks hit The Green Mile, Frank Darabont, is to write the action movie Mission Impossible 3.

The film, which will star Tom Cruise again as the secret agent Ethan Hunt, is set to be released next year. The first two films were written by Robert Towne.

Mr Darabont wrote and directed The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption.

Mr Towne is working on a personal project called Ask the Dust, which is expected to star Mexican actress Salma Hayek and Irish star Colin Farrell.


Rush guitarist's assault charges

The guitarist with rock band Rush has been charged with assault after a New Year's Eve scuffle with police at a Florida hotel.

Alex Zivojinovich - stage name Alex Lifeson - was arrested when he tried to intervene and stop his son being taken away by police during a gig in Naples.

The guitarist's son had refused to get off the stage at The Ritz-Carlton, where the house band was performing.

He faces up to five years in prison if he is convicted.


Soap star sent 'unsuitable mail'

Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien, 20, has been sent "inappropriate letters" by a viewer, ITV has said.

Suspicious security guards intercepted the mail after a man insisted gifts were passed to the actress , who plays Sarah Platt.

"Safety has to be paramount and we have to make sure this sort of stuff is intercepted," a spokeswoman said.

The letters contained money and gifts and were not of a sexual nature or obscene, she added.
