Residents are braced for further flooding after heavy rain and storms caused chaos in Yorkshire.

On Wednesday night, West Yorkshire Fire Service received 500 calls for help in a space of three hours and had to get help from crews in South Yorkshire.

A girl suffered minor injuries after a wall collapsed on her at Milnsbridge, near Huddersfield, on Thursday.

Up to 40mm of rain was expected for Friday with the Environment Agency predicting more flooding in the region.

Elsewhere in the region water levels in the River Ouse in York is expected to drop on Friday.

The city council said it was likely to fall from 3.1metres above its normal level - to 2.6 metres above - throughout the day.

However, the downpours have brought good news for traders in Hull, after some businesses in the city reported an upturn in trade.

Shoppers have been taking cover from the rain in Princes Quay and splashing out to cheer themselves up.

Staff at The Deep say their marine attraction has brought in thousands more visitors since the heavens opened last week.
