Subway eases commuter congestion
A new subway to ease rush hour commuter congestion at King's Cross Tube station opens on Monday.

The tunnel will link the ticket hall to the southern side of Euston Road, in central London.

The current subway, known locally as "the Khyber Pass", struggles to cope with the amount of people using it.

Thameslink services will end at King's Cross from September while its new St Pancras terminal is built, so numbers using the subway will increase.

The new walkway will also play a key part in the Tube station when renovations are completed in 2006.

The Thameslink station is expected to be finished in May 2005.
