A 16-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a road accident in Weston-super-Mare.
The youth was walking across Hildesheim Bridge just after 0330 GMT on Tuesday when he was hit by a lorry.
He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with "life-threatening" head injuries, before being transferred to the city's Frenchay Hospital.
Police are trying to trace two other boys who they believe were with him just before the accident.
It is thought the group had been walking towards the bridge from the Locking Road car park.
The bridge was closed for several hours as forensic science teams examined the area.
