Council's multi-language leaflets
People in Bournemouth who cannot read English are being offered leaflets on council services in their own language.

For the first time, speakers of Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean and Bengali can ask for copies from the borough council in their native tongues.

The languages are the five most common in the Dorset town after English.

Councillor Andrew Garratt said, "Just because English isn't someone's first language, doesn't mean they shouldn't have the same access to information."

To order the council tax, corporate plan or Bournemouth partnership information residents can call 01202 454 668.
