Heart testing for 500 residents
Heart monitor
The device can monitor heart rhythms
Experts are to monitor the hearts of 500 people as part of a 12-month community health improvement project.

Under the Clapham Park New Deal for Communities (NDC) people living in Lambeth, south London, will undergo tests and assessments.

Anyone "at risk" will be given advice and referred to other services for additional help.

Residents will also be given greater access to services and facilities which will encourage healthier lifestyles.

The project is backed by Flora and the Clapham Park NDC - a community-led programme aimed at improving health, employment, housing and social issues.

It says Lambeth was chosen as it has above average levels of heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes and life expectancy is significantly lower than the national average.

The scheme aims to show how healthier lifestyles can lead to big improvements in the "heart health" of residents.
