Quarry plan put on hold
Plans to open a disused quarry in south Shropshire so that its stone can be used for a house renovation, have been put on hold.

Members of the South Shropshire District Council planning committee have called for more information about the need to extract stone from Munslow quarry between Bridgnorth and Craven Arms.

Councillors say opening the quarry for six months would mean disturbance for nearby residents and they have suggested the stone could be obtained from Diddlebury quarry four miles away.

A number of residents along with parish councillors have objected to the plan claiming it is unnecessary and would cause too much inconvenience.

But planning officials said it was a small-scale scheme and have advised councillors to approve the plan.

The quarry is on farmland near the village of Munslow between Craven Arms and Bridgnorth.

The landowner is renovating a house and farm buildings within the village conservation area and wants to use local stone.
