Council to move from its HQ
Ipswich Borough Council
The Civic Centre has been home to the council since the 1960s
Ipswich council staff are set to move out of its Civic Centre headquarters.

The tower block has been used by Ipswich Borough Council since the mid-1960s, but it has become more cost-effective to move out than refurbish the building.

The council will move to new offices near Ipswich Town Football Club's grounds next year.

The cost of restoring the block would have been £13m.

But this would only have given it another 15 years of life.

Staff are due to leave the block in December next year.

The new offices will be rented, not owned by the council.
