A man who was shot in the face has undergone surgery to remove fragments of the bullet from his nasal cavity.
The 28-year-old was found wandering on wasteland near the Towcester Estate in Ancoats, Manchester, on Monday morning.
A passer-by called an ambulance to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for any witnesses to the shooting to come forward as they need to know when and where it took place.
