Fight to save pub
St Saviours
A Guernsey deputy is leading a campaign to save the pub
The last remaining pub in St Saviour's has been earmarked by its owners for alternative use.

Guernsey Brewery wants to close the St Saviour's Tavern and build homes on the site.

The brewery says it is a business decision as the pub is not making any money.

Regulars, including Vince Tostevin who has been a customer for 60 years, are dismayed.

He said: "It's such a lovely place. I have made hundreds of friends here.

"I live on my own and I come for meals three times a week - they look after me really well."

Deputy Leon Gallienne has launched a campaign to keep the pub open.

He urged people to make representations to the Island Development Committee and lobby their parish deputies, Mike Best and Anne Robilliard.
