Station reopens after sex attack
Bromsgrove Station
Officers carried out a forensic examination of the platform
A train station was closed on Wednesday morning as detectives investigated a serious sexual assault on a teenager.

The 19-year-old woman, who was walking with the aid of a crutch, was attacked under a staircase at Bromsgrove station in Worcestershire.

It happened on Tuesday at 1930 GMT just after a train from Nottingham to Great Malvern arrived at the station.

Chief Inspector Colin Edwards, from British Transport Police, said the offender escaped on foot and they were looking into the possibility he may have been on the train.

Police appeal

The train station reopened at about 1400 GMT after a forensic examination of the Birmingham-bound platform was completed.

The offender is described as a white man, about 30 to 35-years-old, of a large build and a medium height with black facial hair.

He was wearing a black coat and dark trousers.

Police are appealing for anyone who was either on the train or at the station at the time of the assault to get in touch.
