Motorists warned over icy roads
Snow in Pickering
There was a covering of snow in Pickering
Motorists are having to take extra care in Yorkshire following the snow on Tuesday night.

But there have been no reports of roads being blocked or major disruption.

However, there are reports of drifting snow up to 40cm (16 inches) deep in Garrowby Hill, East Yorkshire.

Weather forecasters say the cold temperatures will continue with more snow showers likely on Wednesday.

North Yorkshire Police said the weather had not been as severe as had been predicted on Tuesday.

But thousands of schoolchildren in the county were having a day at home on Wednesday because of the weather conditions.

More than 30 schools closed - mainly in the Pickering and Malton areas.
