Teenager died from head injuries
Gareth Jones
Mr Jones was found in the road
A teenager from Gloucestershire found dead under a footbridge had suffered head injuries, an inquest has heard.

Gareth Jones, 17, from Churchdown, was found in the early hours of Saturday lying in the middle of the road on the A417 Barnwood bypass in Gloucester.

Police are treating his death as "unexpected". The inquest was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.

Three teenagers being questioned by officers over the weekend were released on police bail on Sunday.

'Kind heart'

Mr Jones' mother, Julie, said: "Gareth would pack as much into a day as he could, he was always on the go and loved to make people laugh.

"He was very close to his friends and loved socialising.

"Although Gareth loved to look cool he also had a very kind heart, and if he could find a way to help someone out he would do so."

Police are still appealing for witnesses.

The Gloucester inquest was adjourned until a later date.
