Retired police chief hit by car
A retired Metropolitan Police chief is in a critical condition after a hit-and-run accident in south London.

Brian Siddle, 60, suffered head injuries when he was hit crossing Stafford Road in Croydon.

Police are appealing for help to trace the driver of the C Class Mercedes which failed to stop after the accident at 1530 GMT on 21 January.

Mr Siddle, who retired in 1994 and lives in Cheam, Surrey, was a chief superintendent with Sutton Police.

The car's registration number is thought to be KM52 OLG and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything to contact them on 020 8284 5988 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
