Frogmen join search for swimmer
A team of police divers are in Shrewsbury to search for a man who has not been seen since he went swimming in the River Severn a week ago.

Rick Phillips, the 43-year-old manager of Owen's cafe bar in the town, went missing in the early hours of 19 January after going out drinking.

Police said he decided to go for a swim in the swollen river and was last sighted by friends on a small island by the English Bridge.

A team of frogmen from the South Wales force will assess the river on Tuesday to see it if it is safe enough for them to search for Mr Phillips.

West Mercia Police have already used boats to scour the river and checked the banks with the help of sniffer dogs.

They have also made extensive inquires to see if the bar manager managed to get out of the water safely.
