Website appeal for missing man
Vincent Derrick
Vincent Derrick went missing after a taxi journey
Friends of a man who has been missing from home for five months have set up a website to help try and find him.

Vincent Derrick, from Greater Manchester, disappeared after a works night out last August.

Relatives said the disappearance of father-of-one Mr Derrick, who lives in Partington, but born in Leicestershire, is totally out of character.

Despite extensive searches for him, Greater Manchester Police said there have been no sightings.

Friends and relatives of Mr Derrick, who has a two-year-old son, Lewis, and wife Vicky, have also carried out major searches for him.

'Jog memory'

On Tuesday Mrs Derrick welcomed the setting up of a website as part of the search.

"The more things we do then at least I can tell Lewis that we tried everything at the end of the day," she told BBC GMR.

"A website will do no harm, in fact it could do more good because a lot of people use the internet and maybe somebody will click on to it and it will jog their memory."

Mr Derrick has not been heard from since he phoned his boss to tell her he was getting a taxi to her house - after leaving a bar in Manchester city centre on 29 August, 2003.

He had been due to stay the night at the house but he did not arrive although he is understood to have got out of the taxi on the A34 road near Cheadle .

Police are still trying to trace the cab driver who may have information on where Mr Derrick was heading.
