New information over skydiver murder
Stephen Hilder
Stephen Hilder was an experienced skydiver
Detectives investigating the murder of skydiver Stephen Hilder say a woman has come forward with vital new information.

Mr Hilder, from Hereford, fell 13,000 feet to his death over Hibaldstow Airfield, North Lincolnshire, in July, after his parachutes were sabotaged.

The 20-year-old was an Army cadet at the Royal Military college in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire.

The woman, from Wiltshire, has told police she helped to pack Mr Hilder's parachute at a skydiving event a week before he died.

The development comes as Humberside Police announced they are to tap into other officers' skills from around the country to try to find Mr Hilder's killer.

Detective Superintendent Colin Andrews said although new information was still emerging, he wanted to see if colleagues from across the country could see anything they had missed.

Humberside Police will present details of the case at a conference in Scunthorpe on 28 January.

A 24-year-old man arrested in November 2003 and released on police bail is due to return for further questioning.
