At least four people have died after soccer fans in Guinea went on the rampage following its team's victory at the African Cup of Nations tournament.

Guinea beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 2-1 in a closely contested match in Tunisia.

Thousands of fans took to the streets in the capital, Conakry, to celebrate but trouble began following some theft.

In the confusion that followed three people died in a car crash and another person was run over.

The BBC's Abdourahmane Diallo in Conakry says the police have now asked for the public to stay home during Guinea's future matches at the competition in Tunisia to prevent further trouble.
