Hundreds of Hindus devotees have celebrated an annual religious festival inside a controversial monument in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
There has been increased security at the monument, known as Bhojshala, following clashes between Hindus and Muslims at last year's celebrations during which five people were killed.
A right-wing Hindu group says the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, is due to join Tuesday's ceremonies at the monument.
Tthe Archeological Survey of India (ASI) ruled six months ago that both Hindus and Muslims could enter Bhojshala.
Muslim organisations have since challenged the decision in court, saying the monument belongs to their community.
Hindus have been celebrating the religious festival of Basant Panchami in Bhojshala since 1952.
