Woman is attacked during burglary

An elderly woman was held by the throat during a raid on her home in South Gloucestershire.

The 84-year-old was confronted by a burglar as she watched TV at her house in Coalpit Heath on 23 January.

The intruder is thought to have entered via a window, before grabbing the woman and making off with her handbag.

He is described as slim and white, about 19, 5ft 5ins with dark hair and wearing a grey jacket, dark trousers and gloves.

The woman was left "extremely shaken" as a result of the ordeal, say police

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses.
